We are constantly working to improve our systems to provide you with the most accurate and efficient data. As part of our commitment to scaling our industry-leading EMS solutions, we are announcing an upcoming enhancement to how measurement data is processed and sent to our cloud platform.
This evolution is a necessary step toward our goal of making the energy transition affordable for everyone. The new data processing system introduces several key benefits, primarily by optimizing the data granularity for cloud communication from 2-second to 30-second intervals. This change allows for greater scalability and efficiency.
After months of successful testing, we have confirmed this change maintains the accuracy of your historical data while significantly improving system robustness.
Key Benefits:
-
Optimized Performance: Data resolution is fine-tuned for efficiency and cost savings, while retaining flexibility for specific use cases, testing, and diagnostics.
-
Reduced Data Usage: Significantly lowers internet traffic between the gridBox and the cloud, improving performance on all network types.
-
Improved Reliability: Enhanced offline caching capabilities ensure data integrity even during internet connectivity issues.
What This Means For You:
-
This update will be rolled out to all HEMS customers.
-
For App Users:
-
The “Live Data” view within the application will continue to refresh approximately every 30 seconds, so your user experience will remain unchanged.
-
This update will have no impact on the white-labelled App for the end-user or the XENON-Dashboard.
-
-
For API Users:
-
The Historical Measurements API is not changing. Its logic remains the same, though it will eventually be based on 30-second interval data.
-
We are launching a new Asset Measurement API to replace the existing Appliance Raw Measurements API.
-
Action Required: We encourage you to plan your migration to the new API, towards the end of 2025 / early 2026, when all assets have been migrated. Both APIs will run in parallel for a transitional period. The old API will be deprecated in the future; a timeline will be announced well in advance.
-
Benefit: The new API includes enriched metadata, offering more powerful integration possibilities.
-
Rollout Plan
The rollout will be conducted in phases:
-
Phase 1 (starting September 22nd, 2025): We will release the new Asset Measurement API, starting with Battery Measurements. During this phase, the data granularity remains at 2 seconds.
-
Phase 2 (Date to be Announced): We will switch the data granularity from 2-seconds to 30-seconds.
-
Phase 3 (Coming Months): We will progressively migrate all other asset types.
A full technical overview for our developer community will be available soon.
We are confident this evolution of our platform will provide a stronger foundation for the services we provide you.
